The Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu Archaeological Complex reopens today after being closed to tourism for a month, at which time work was carried out maintenance and conservation of Prehispanic Road Network.
The Head of the Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu, Fernando Astete said that the work is concentrated mainly in sectors Ayapata, Pacasmayo Chaquicocha Alto.
Workers conservationists, led by specialists from the Regional Directorate of Culture Cusco, performed tasks of stabilization and consolidation of sections of the Inca Trail that were impacted by the transit of visitors.
Likewise, developed at treatment works Flats deteriorated roads, terraces arrangement, maintenance of camping areas, cleaning of drains, cutting of vegetation, maintenance and repainting of control booths and restrooms, among other actions .
“These efforts will prevent the stone and mud slides that often occur during the rainy season and allow tourists to enjoy the route,” said the head of the park.
